Pip hid in the play kitchen - except quite visible because my kids are terrible 'finders'. Terrible. I still had to give them a hint.
He hid with some candy canes and a note which read:
"Hi Guys!
Boy, am I glad to be back!
I brought a treat for each of you - now let's set up the little nativity!
We are going to have so much fun this year!"
While the kids sucked on their little candy canes - they set up the Little People nativity - which turned into Princess doing a dramatic rendition of the story...
Before the monkey could get to it and replace the angel with a sheep...

I'm so excited...
Oh, man, I had to give hint after hint (Ollie is ALWAYS hidden in the open) and then finally say, "Stand right in the middle of your room and then turn around slowly." So he finally found the elf, but still could not find the note sitting six inches below him.
I love the type-casting of T's drama, L's silliness, and D... MIA.
